Founded in 2000, the Community Foundation of Burke County (CFBC) is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization that receives gifts, endowments and bequests from individuals, families, businesses and organizations. CFBC manages over 200 endowed funds with more than $70 million in total invested assets. The Foundation uses distributions from these funds to make grants to qualified charitable agencies and institutions primarily serving the residents of Burke County, North Carolina. In 2025, we distributed over $2 million in grants and awarded nearly $160,000 in scholarships to deserving students. CFBC’s mission is to encourage, develop and participate in philanthropy by providing flexible giving opportunities, professional support and responsible stewardship for the benefit of donors and qualified recipients.
 
Position Overview
 
The Community Foundation of Burke County is seeking a bright, articulate, and outgoing Administrative Assistant to support our President & CEO and serve as the welcoming first point of contact for our office. This person will greet visitors, donors, and prospective donors, and will play a vital role in the day-to-day operations that help our Foundation serve the community.
 
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing a variety of responsibilities with minimal supervision. Strong written and verbal communication skills, a collaborative mindset, a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and comfort with CRM platforms are essential.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 
• Provide administrative support and track all forms of communication related to donors and funds
• Coordinate logistics for donor events, including managing invitee lists, creating and sending invitations, tracking RSVPs, preparing event materials, and providing on-site support
• Oversee day-to-day office management, including ordering, and maintaining office inventory and supplies
• Enter donations, generate acknowledgement letters, and maintain accurate files
• Support the finance team as needed
• Record and file minutes for Board meetings as needed
• Perform additional administrative tasks as assigned by the President & CEO
• Manage CFBC’s social media platforms and support with newsletters and annual reports
 
Experience
 
• Experience in customer service, donor relations, client relations, or philanthropy
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Experience with nonprofit organizations preferred
• Comfortable learning new technology and CRM systems
• Experience with social media is a plus

Compensation and Benefits
 
• Hiring salary range: $40,000–$45,000 per year, based on experience
• Paid time off
