Description

FCNC Executive Director Andrew Kota will join Jason Harp, Director of Cemetery Conservation for Richard Grubb & Associates, FCNC Board Member Allen Fullwood, and Nora Coffey, Park Superintendent for Lake James State Park, for a presentation highlighting the collaborative preservation of Rock Hill A.M.E. Cemetery, located within Lake James State Park. The program will explore how partnerships among descendants, preservation professionals, nonprofit organizations, and public agencies are working to protect this important historic site through historical research, conservation planning, gravemarker documentation, and ground-penetrating radar investigations. In addition to sharing the story of Rock Hill A.M.E. Cemetery, the presentation will offer practical lessons and inspiration for anyone interested in preserving historic cemeteries and other significant cultural landscapes throughout our region.
